To drink or not to drink

I need some opinions to help settle a debate between me and my husband.  One of us believes we should give our babies (our cats) bottled/filtered water and one of us believes that our babies can drink tap water. One argues, “If we don’t drink water out of the tap, we shouldn’t give it to our babies either“… and one argues… “But cats lick their own butts, if they don’t get sick from licking their own butts, then surely they won’t get sick from drinking tap water“. 

 So… what do YOU think?  Should we give our cats bottled/filtered water or no?

    hi am gerald al the way from uganda n my say on that issue that if theres availability of filtered water then why not give your babies that. however on the other hand you sh’d not over emphasise that because there are people on other part of the planet who dont even have what to drink.dont put value cats that much when fellow human beings are dying of thirst.

    I am really the wrong person to answer this question since I am not an animal lover. However it seems to me tap water would work for the cats. In as much as they are suppose to be the cleanest animal. On the other hand it even though they are your “babies” and I use the word loosely. The are animals not humans give them the tap water.
