Home Sweet Home!

On Monday I had one of THE worst travel days ever! It all really started on Sunday when we had all those bad storms come through south Atlanta. Well that triggered a lot of flights to be cancelled/ delayed at the airport. By Monday morning, many people were stranded at the airport because of cancelled flights. Well my flight to DC was supposed to be Monday morning so I could attend a national awards ceremony for today, where I was one of the award recipients. Because of all the delays, my flight was cancelled and rescheduled (without my knowledge) for today, which would have been too late for me to attend the ceremony. Thankfully one of my co workers who was also attending was able to get us new flights, at the last minute, so I ended up literally running to the airport to catch a new flight. The security lines were longer than I have ever seen them! For those of you familiar with the ATL Airport, the security lines were all the way back to baggage claim. So I make my way up to the checkpoint after standing in line for 30 minutes, only to realize that I didn’t have my boarding pass with me, all I had was my itinerary. I was fit to be tied! By this time it was 9:00am and my flight was leaving at 9:45. So I had to run back to a Delta kiosk, print out my boarding pass and get right back in that loooooong security line. By this time the line had eased up a bit, but it was still long. While I was standing in the line almost back to checkpoint, I realized I had dropped my driver’s license somewhere! What else could go wrong. I had to decide of I would get out of line, go searching for my license, and risk missing my plane, or if I should just worry about getting a new license when I got back. I decided to just go get a new license when I got back. Luckily I had my work ID on me so I could use that as identification. Well about 15 minutes later, I saw a TSA guy looking around with something in his hand and it appeared to be an ID, he looked at me, I looked at him and I just knew he had my license. I was so thankful I almost kissed him! Well now fast forward to me boarding the plane. By the time I got to the gate, boarding was almost over and I was sitting in my seat for less than 5 minutes before they closed the doors. That is the closest I have ever come to missing my flight.

Well, anyway so the awards ceremony was great, I managed to walk across the stage and not fall, which made it even better! The whole time I kept thinking, please-dont-fall-please-dont-fall, especially after watching the news last night where everybody kept showing Miss USA fall. The ceremony was televised so my co-workers and fellow employees all across the country were able to watch us being recognized for our accomplishments.

And now, I’m back home! After having of the worst travel days ever. Home sweet home.
